How
To Search on MetroYP.Net
MetroYP.Net offers various ways
to search for business listings:

Simple
search box |
| |
From
the home page, enter your search criteria in the appropriate
fields and click the Find it button to start your search.
You must fill in either the Type of Categories or Business
Name fields, or both, along with the Locations or City field
to perform your search. Your search results will include the
business listings that contain all the search criteria you
entered in the search fields.

the type of businesses you're looking for, such as
dentist or florist. |

one or more words contained in the name of the business

the name of the location or city in which you want

box is also available from the search result page,
so you can quickly modify your search criteria and
launch another search. |

by Map |
Find
a business by selecting state. After state selection,
You may enter City/Zip: box and select Category of
your choice then click search. |

by Phone No. |
Find
a business by entering only a phone number. You may
enter six digits of a phone number to view all businesses
with phone numbers beginning with those digits, or
all ten digits to find a specific business |
| Search
by State or Nationwide |
Find
all business in a specific state or across the nation
matching your entered business type and/or business
name criteria. Enter the business type and/or business
name criteria and select a state (or All state) in
the drop-down box. |
| Once you click the Find it button,
your search is launched and a search refine screen
appears to help you focus your search on a geographical
location and a category of businesses. |

Selecting
areas & categories |
| |
The
search refine screen displays the locations and categories
matching the search criteria you entered, which are displayed
in two columns:
1. Select
an area matching the city name you entered.
2. Select a category matching the business type or name you
entered.
If there is only one location and category matching your criteria,
then this screen is bypassed and the search results are displayed
directly.

How
to read and refine results |
| |
The
search result page displays the business listings matching
your search criteria.
The result screen is divided into three sections:
1.The results
description at the top of the page describes what the results
contain. Example: Florists Retail serving Your Town
Results: 1 - 15 of 85
2.The left column provides a means to:
- Launch another search
- Refine the location you searched on
- Change the category you're searching in
3.The search results section contains the listings matching
your search criteria. Each listing is contained in its own
"card" and includes the business' name, phone number and possibly
links to other information such as websites, maps of the business'
location or print advertisements. Results may be spread over
several pages. To view each page, click either the Previous
or Next links at the top and bottom of the result page, or
click a result page number at the bottom of the result page. |

Results
Refining Options |

The
left column of the screen will generally contain two boxes
that allow you to quickly refine, expand, or otherwise alter
your search criteria in the following ways:
Redefine
Location Searched
This box provides options for refining the location of your
search, based on the type of initial search you performed.
For Simple
Searches:
Refine
A list of the cities containing the listings in your search
results is displayed. Clicking on any of the links will filter
the results to display only the businesses located in the
selected city.
Change the
Category Search On:
This box will contain other categories related to your search
criteria. Clicking any of the categories in this list will
re-launch your search using the same location (and business
name, if provided) criteria and display the results immediately.
Example: for an initial search on florists, this box might
contain categories related to your original category selection
of Florists retail, such as Florists Wholesale and Artificial
Plants & Flowers.

Start
Your Search Over
If you want to start a new search and clear the business type
and/or name fields, you can click the MetroYP.Net Logo link
located at the top of the left column in the page. This link
will take you back to the home page search box
Filter Your
Search Results by Letter or Number
You can view only those listings that start with a specific
number or letter by clicking on the number or letter at the
bottom of the result page. After filtering by letter or number,
you may click the All link to view all the original listings
again
